Hey All,
If you have, know about or want to go to an event, please post here and see what happens. Always take precautions whether you are driving, or someone else is or you're just taking the bus, that you communicate with one another about your plans/schedule/etc. and feel comfortable with your agreement and so forth.
Links I've already posted below have the Urban Forest Restoration events all through out this term, there is a NAMI (National Association of the Mentally Ill) walk this Saturday, May 14th in Kirkland AND a fundraising walk/run race in Monroe put on by one of the students in our Monday/Wednesday COLL 101.
We also have the on-going clothing and food drives that a number of students have places to share your donations, you can bring them in large or small quantities to any class, or leave them in your car and we can get them from there or if anyone knows and wants to invest the time to get permission and organize donation boxes and such around campus- let me know or just go for it! Ok, well within reason ;)
Please post, share and links and so forth as much as possible. What can we do in 5 weeks? Let's keep all the possibilities open and aim for the best!!!

Last year i volunteered for Hopelink and it was a food drive and after we collected all of our food we went to the hopelink center and helped in the warehouse to sort the food and put it away. hopelink is a place where they help anyone in need, whether its with food, bills, finding jobs, or even teaching adults to read. Im sure they would appreciate any help and you can find more info at www.hope-link.org i believe the closest location is kirkland
ReplyDeleteCool! Thanks Stephanie, foodbanks and most non-profits are really under tremendous pressure right now with huge numbers of people needing their help and some of them used to be the ones donating when times were better- so more need and less funds/donations means we have all kinds of ways and opportunities to make a positive difference in other people's as well as our own lives.
ReplyDeleteAlso remember we are asking people to bring food, clothes, hygiene products and anything else our community members who are struggling might need to any of my classes and we will find a home for them, or drop them off in the Diversity and Equity Center, or donate directly to an organization and just make sure to log it on your Excel spreadsheet-as we keep talking about in class.
